Chambourcin Mini-Expansion 2018

Our Chambourcin plant order of 100 plants from AA Vineyards, came this past Wednesday.  Zach took the shovel plow and cut us two trenches to finish the ends of rows 25B and 26B.

Each bundle of plants, held by Fiona here, had 25 healthy Chambourcin plants.  We trimmed the roots to activate root suction and stimulate root growth.

We noticed that since they had been hot in the box outside a few days they had begun to try to grow buds.  The pitiful sprouts were completely white from no sunlight.  Taking care not to damage or knock off the eager little buds, all the 3 farm hands and Zach and Rachel were able to plant 75 grape plants in about 2.5 hours.

(It seems we over estimated how many plants we needed by 25%...oops!)

In the photo to the right, you see Zach and Toben planting in Row 26B.  Off to the back left of this picture you see another one of our sister vineyards, commonly called Duff and Anja's field.  Their vineyard is also steadily growing year to year.

***UPDATE***
We planted our remaining 25 Chambourcin plants between row 1 and row 2 of our little garden this year for safe keeping.
